Gauksmyri Lodge

Icelandic horses are a much more unique breed than I expected and the Gauksmyri Lodge welcomed us to learn more.

I've ridden English in the past, but the natural gaits of Icelandic horses are different, as the photo below lists.

Iceland will /export/ horses, but bans the import of any horses. Apparently, because of their evolutionary isolation,  there are no known horse diseases and they want to keep it that way.
