Thar She Blows !
Despite the ominous forecast, the whale watching tour will depart with /most/ of the group aboard. Geri and I stayed ashore, choosing a nice espresso and the local whaling museum instead.
Husavik is the northern whaling center and the more intrepid among us boarded the good ship Nattfari and donned stylish and hopefully warm/dry storm suits.
Meanwhile, six of us enjoyed a quick stop at a cafe and visited Husavik's Whaling Museum.

When we stepped back outside, I asked about the tree stump next to the door. Not a stump - part of a whale skeleton that had washed ashore.






Kind of overwhelming tourist sign. Where to turn? Where to go next?
ReplyDeleteTruly artful museum photos. I can't help but be struck by the familiarity of mammal features: cranium, spinal structure, ribs, 'arms' and even 'fingers.' Eerie cousins,eh?
