I'll Take "Icelandic National Parks" For $100, Alex

"Thingvellir"

What is "The only Icelandic site we visited that I can pronounce?"

Thingvellir National Park, on the Golden Circle,  is important for both geological and historical reasons. Geologically, it sits on an active volcanic site where the fissure between the Eurasian and North American continental plates is most evident
Politically,  it is where Althing, the Icelandic National Assembly met in open air sessions between 930 to 1798 CE.

I believe Geri and I were the /very first/ tourists to each stand straddling two continents for a picture.

But that wasn't enough for me, so I decided to take a hike ...

  1. I'm pretty sure you broke some Interpol regulations by continent-hopping like that, but since there's no proof you're probably safe. (Oh, no! The photos! Smash your phones while there's still time.)

Seriously, it's pretty potent stuff - looking directly at enormous geological features like continental divides.
